"It's the economy, stupid" was a phrase in American politics widely used during Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential campaign against George H. W. Bush. In 2010 the world’s developed economies are reeling from what has now been termed ‘The Great Recession’. Whilst the economic debate is raging on how to cut deficits, create jobs, how did this situation occur and how to avoid it in the future, what I do know that millions of people are reeling around the world from a lack of jobs & job security.
It is not the workers’ fault they have become unemployed or their hours of work reduced. Spiritualism needs to give hope to workers and not condemn them as ‘sinful’ as some religions have been advocating.
I am somewhat disappointed on how certain individuals and organisations on thespiritguides.co.uk are not discussing the economy and giving hope on this subject matter. People in our communities need help, healing, kind words of encouragement. Recently the Church of England debated the merits of women Bishops according to Scripture. 2,000 years since the birth of Christ this debate still rages on, yet the world is being ravaged by wars & natural disasters and so it seems the CoE is far too preoccupied to give any spiritual comfort to it believers and the country on the matter of the economy. Yet the Bible for example Genesis 41:56 it can be argued offers guidance on how to run an economy. Joseph the son of Jacob had stored grain from several harvests to prepare for a period of famine as foretold in a Pharaohs’ dream.
Lets us today as Spiritualist take the lead, let’s talk about the economy, talk to our neighbours, send healing out to where necessary, comfort and guide those in financial distress. Let us debate and guide this on thespiritguides.co.uk, let’s hear what Guides such as Gregory, Hilarion, have to say on this matter?
