There is two-way traffic with the spirit world. Death is not a cul-de-sac, the end of the road. We are standing on a busy two-way highway. We come from the Spirit World to begin with, and we return there after death in our individual lives. Each time we come here, we bring memories, connections and agendas from other lives, and from the Spirit World where we spend our time in-between lives, though that “time” is not measured in earth years, so a stay of a hundred or a thousand years may go by in a flash or seem an eternity. The latter is probably the case if we have crimes and character flaws to atone for. We may also want to explore subjects and plan future activities before returning to earth again.
From the information gathered from reports on past and future or projected lives, we can now see that only a fragment of our total soul breaks away to incarnate at any one time and place. Each one of us, here and now, belongs to and is connected with our greater soul entity, which resides at one level or another of the Spirit World, and in turn is connected to a larger group of souls, or soul family. It is not possible for us to see beyond that.
All this means that God Himself is not waiting to pounce on us, personally, when we die, and judge and condemn us, or welcome us into Paradise. That image of God is part guilt and part wishful thinking encouraged by erroneous thinking, and mythical beliefs. This is not to deny God’s existence or, stating it another way, the presence in our lives of a Great Spirit or Divine Intelligence, the source and Creator of life. The power and energy of life is everywhere, felt by some as an all-embracing suffusion of Love and Light. But we experience only a local, immediate low voltage branch of it, transformed down from a higher current.which would stun or kill us like lightning if it hit us. This spiritual current, flowing through the silver cord attached to us lights our soul and spirit and keeps us connected with the Spirit World and the higher power of God above and beyond.
Practically none of the accounts in communications from the Spirit World, nor from memories of past and between-life existences report on any direct contact with God. The person who comes to greet us at death or assist us in choosing our next life and help us be born again in a new incarnation, will be a former friend or spouse or spirit guide. Very often there will be more than one person, even a kind of committee. Similarly, if during our lifetime we feel inspired to take some action, or we are miraculously saved from an accident or illness, we may feel that God touched us. Yes, but indirectly, through a friend, loved one of spirit guide, from the Spirit World, rather than contact with God Himself. We often say “God Bless !” or goodbye (meaning, originally, God be with you) and so adieu in French, adios in Spanish and so on in other languages. This is sending a blessing from all levels of the Spirit World, generally, high and low, individual and incorporating the whole, absolute power of life, the Great Spirit, the Tao, Divine Love, unconditional, personal and impersonal. This is whom and what we contact when healing of any kind takes place.
Our contact with the Spirit World by the silver cord is not like the underground and under the sea cable which is used to connect the telegraph, telephone and other communications hardware round the world, nor is it transmitted through the airwaves by satellite connections. Each of us has a unique frequency which connects with our soul in the Spirit World, which no one else can interfere with. If we wish to communicate telepathically with some one else we will have to tune up, or down to meet their frequency. This is what happens in Spirit communications, when those in spirit tune down to approach the medium’s frequency, and the medium tunes upwards towards the Spirit World. It is a two-way process, once again.
There’s only so much one person can do in a lifetime, then one has to leave – Maybe another life can be started over again, with similar friends and loved ones, and more to do and learn, that seems how life continues, a double life split between here and between lives in our home Beyond. We may want to stop the world in its tracks, if we find some valuable truth or piece of information to share, which we think would transform the world. But with billions around us involved in their own cultures, lives and individual problems, few are going to stop and take notice. Others have chosen their life and situation to work on, and don’t want to look further afield. When they die they will just go back to the Spirit World and continue on, as the rest of us, at their level of understanding. But don’t you think we’d all have smoother, more peaceful and less tragic journeys if we had the bigger picture in mind ? This series of articles is attempting to provide that, giving accounts of others who made the effort to share their experiences.
Muslim Sufis give up their possessions and attachment to worldly things in order to attain enlightenment and so reach Heaven or Paradise. Hindu yogis have similar practices, but since we all came from Heaven, or the Spirit World, before incarnating, we will all return there, without a doubt, and without the need for these austerities. The quality and intention of our thoughts and actions are the factors which decide our destination after death. In order to attune to the Spirit World, we need to observe ethical conduct and follow Spiritual Law, or, in other words, practise the virtues prescribed by our religions, which we usually ignore, except on Sunday, the Sabbath or other Holy Days. A general reverence for life, respect for the sacred, that is what is needed, rather than withdrawing from life, keeping ourselves divided and apart from our fellow humans. If we happen to have second sight, with clairvoyance and other psychic abilities, we are already to see further. If we do not have these gifts. we can meditate, observe our dreams, or go into trance to recall memories of other times and places.
I would not recommend going into altered states of consciousness, with the help of drugs or other intoxicants and psychotropic substances. The resulting experiences may be disturbing, attract low-level spirit influences, or allow the imagination to run riot. Common sense acquired from living in a properly grounded state of conscious awareness is our best friend. Then we will know what is real, and be able to attune to our true spirit guides and other friends in the Spirit World.
Activities in the Spirit World will vary in quality, according to the their level of operation, and many of our earthly preoccupations will not be found over there. This will be the subject of the next article.
